There's no place like DC...
I thought I'd post these before it gets too far away from Halloween.
This is part of a Halloween display in my house. I got the idea from Matthew Meade.
He had an awesome display in one of his Halloween books. It was a coat rack on a wall with a bunch witches stuff hanging off of it as if she had just came through the door. I decided to do my own version starring Elphaba from the musical Wicked.
Because it is a great time of year to be extra appreciative, I decided to have another ...

Leave me a comment before Tuesday with your favorite Wizard of Oz moment and why. This is my favorite movie, so if you don't like it... LIE or else ...
" I'll get you my pretty, and whatever your dogs name is too"!
Even though I am obsessed with the musical Wicked, and my favorite character is Elphaba, the witch is actually not my favorite part of the movie, although I do love saying that line and the cackle that follows it. My favorite part is when Dorothy gets the ruby slippers and starts off down the yellow brick road. Oh how I wanted those shoes when I was little. My mom used to call me the wizard, and I do so miss hearing her call me that. Here is a little sign I made to remind me of just that.
I'm off to DC, if only I could just click my Frye boot heels together and say
There's no place like DC, there's no place like DC...

Ok, my favorite moment of the Wizzard of Oz is without doubt or hesitation the Emerald city. I had always loved green but, when they come upon it and it is in view... it still takes my breath away. That was a transformational moment for me - green has been my favorite color since. I had an out of body green experience - enveloped in the extreme pleasure of all green. For a long time a a girl i immagined that that must be what heaven looks and feels like - only with Jesus as the one who stands at the gate! Thank you Lord for green.....
the best part of wizard of oz (okay, not the best, but by far my favorite) is the lullaby league. i started taking dance lessons because i wanted to be one of those dancers!! i still walk around up on my toes every once in a while!
Hard to pick just one...but if I have to, it would be when Dorothy meets the munchkins. I was in awe of Glinda and just loved the costumes of the munchkins.
The Wizard tells the Tin Man... A heart is not judged by how much you love, but by how much you are loved, by others. I am so glad I found your blog you inspire me each day. Have fun in DC!
The best part of the Wizard of Oz is to hear you sing the songs. :)
Maybe this is why Green is a Favorite color.
I hope the Frye boots you have been clicking together are at least BLACK! I mean it's about time. You may be the olny girl I know who does not own a black pair of boots! What would Edward think? Love Ya
How exciting!! I hope I win cause I'm in love with Grace! :)
Okay, this is just the craziest coincidence because as a kid we ALWAYS watched Wizard of Oz when we stayed home from school sick, and everyone in my house is well, sick!
Anyhow, my favorite part of Wizard of Oz has always been the makeover scene when all 4 of them get pampered and prettied up before they go on to see the wizard. I'm a sucker for a good makeover!
Thanks!!
I LOVE Wicked and I'm sad it has left Chicago! Anyway, the Wizard of Oz has always been one of my favorite old movies and I am happy that one of my 2 1/2 year olds that I watch asks to watch it every time I am there. The story never gets old. My favorite part is when they get to the Emerald City and get the make over! That has always been my favorite part along with Dorothy singing Somewhere Over the Rainbow!!!!
I know I'm late for the give way but I jsut wanted to say that I love your page!
I saw wicked on broadway almost 2 years ago. just thinking about it gives me chills. I love musicals and that is one of the best.
funny how I could not get through the book but LOVED everything about the musical. I'll have to give it a try another day.
