Bio & Headshot

Well Hello there! If you've stumbled your way to this blog WELCOME! I'm a widwestern gal who is darn crafty. I love taking all kinds of pictures,  but taking funny ones of myself are my favourite. I am a t.v. and movie addict who can remeber all kinds of movie history, actors names, dates and trivia, however, I cannot seem to remember where I put my purse, keys and sometimes my children!

To learn more about me you can get a backstage tour by clicking on the different links and visiting the bio/headshot area.

roller coasters

Roller coasters are not my thing. I have never enjoyed that feeling of being out of control and  plummeting to the earth at 100 mph. This is the kind of week I've had. That feeling of racing, racing, racing, and then the crash and burn. I am so looking forward to this weekend... although there will still be lots of activity I am going to go for a balance of some sorts....

Thought I'd share with you the wearable- art apron I made to wear during the trunk show.

Wish I could take credit for this genius idea... butt that goes to this lady .

Ella loves it so much I said she could have it to display in her room.

I have to place an order for more, they were so fun to make. Hobby Lobby sells canvas aprons as well, but Donnas have more style to them. The ruffle at the bottom and the pockets on the front. I am thinking about using some canvas triangle shaped pieces that Archivers sells for little banners. I'd like to decorate them and  then attach them to the apron with old clothes pins.

No sales... but you an hardly blame em. As I was standing there I got to thinking if I had just come from running or a spin class would i want to look in a mirror in bright daylight with a floral thinga ma jingy on my head?

I think not!

But I am so thankful for the opportunity, you live and learn. And now I am totally prepared for my Etsy shop, which I am happy to say is OPEN for business. I would never be this far if it weren't for Terri, so THANKS Terri! xoxox

and lastly...

Have you heard about Oprah's favorite things Chicken Pie?

Well she claims it is THE BEST CHICKEN PIE EVER!

I will say I was very thankful to have something in the freezer that I could just throw in the oven and bake, but BEST ?...

With a dash of salt and a sprinkle of pepper it was tasty. Brad and I both thought it needed the peas and carrots. It's called chicken pie not chicken pot pie... and I needed the pot .

Well... actually my tummy wanted the pot part, but my butt certainly didn't need it. There are 36 grams of fat and 810 calories per 1 cup slice!

That can be half your caloric intake and all your fat and more... for the day... in one meal!

So have at it Oprah...

I'll skip it and stick to spinning!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

a little preview

These are just a few of my new styles. I am going to be listing some repeats and a couple of new ribbon styles as well.

The names of each are missing as well as the headbands... still workin on those.

But some names are Marilyn, Carrie B.,Glee-ful, Enchanted, Purple Haze, and Sew Crafty...

if I can part with that one.

This is what I came up with as a display idea.

I bought this for Ella for her new bedroom...

she's not too pleased with me borrowing it.

I found it at Home Goods.

I'm going to use the old fashioned kind of laundry pins to clip the convertables to the form.

 and...

So there you have it.

I'll be back on Friday to show you pictures of the big day.

Baby it's cold outside!

We got our first snow this weekend...  4 inches, just enough to have to shovel. It's also FREEZING!

I spent the weekend inside sewing I am going to take the photos today and hope to have them up this week.

I do have one last project that I completed after the cleanup. As I look at this I know this for us means spring. Ella's birthday is in April... looking outside and then looking at this....those are going to be a long 4 months!

My house is a mess, I started decorating and then decided to do the trunk show so there are Christmas boxes everywhere and one of two trees is up. Hopefully I can complete something this week!

I really want to deck my halls like I did for Thanksgiving so that will be my weekend project.

How bout you?

Is your tree up? Halls decked?

You may have noticed my side bar has some new buttons to visit. The Brave Girl button is a online camp that I am going to attend starting in January. There is also a daily blog as well that I am just loving and find very uplifting and motivational. You can check out the camp video here.

This Magic Moment

In the midst of the cleanup I came across a box of layouts that I had labeled works in progress.

What that means is I had pulled together the paper and the pictures to be scrapped and whenever the crafting bug hits I would pull one out and it would be ready to go.

Unfortunately I did this a lot because this was a rather large box.

Inside this box I found a little gem.

This is Jeremy at the age of 5. I took this on our way to see the first Harry Potter movie.

He's so little he still has his baby teeth. He's holding up the movie ticket I bought in advance. I know that ticket is somewhere in this house and when I find it I'm going to add it to this...

The items I had originally pulled together for this were a birthday card with Harry on it, but when I took it out I realized grandma had given it to him and her signature was on it so I decided not to use and instead found this paper at the Archiver's.

I also need to add the journaling. We went with my mom. He was so excited. You can't see it in the photo, but he does have the lightning bolt on his forehead, grandma drew it on him. He's wearing the only wizard kind of outfit we could find. The whole Harry Potter craze had not hit yet so the real costume was not available, but I did manage to find a t-shirt and he is wearing that.

He literally sat on the edge of his seat the entire movie. I also remember watching the first movie and was in love with the creativity of this woman. I had not read any of the books so the movie was for us  the first experience we had with the Harry Potter world.

I said to Brad last night as we were looking at this layout " Where did that little boy go?"

and Brad said " OhDi, he's still in there, but he's a teenager now."

And I couldn't help but think of Harry and his magical invisible cloak....

and that Jer, just like Harry had to grow up sometime...

and instead of an invisible cloak he is wearing the cloak of teenage hood.

I've been working hard on the convertables I have a trunk show on Thursday. I am hoping to have one of each up on Etsy by Monday.....

It's snowing here.....

A great day to light the fire place and sew!
